“Exactly,” Dominic replied.

He looked at Marco.

“Anyone who had access to her desk.”

Marco spread his hands.

“We all pass her desk.”

“Not after eleven at night.”

“I work late.

So do you.”

Dominic’s expression never changed.

“I do.”

The two words made the room colder.

Marco understood before I did.

Dominic had been in the building that night.

“You saw me?” Marco asked.

“No,” Dominic said.

“But the cameras did.”

The confidence drained from Marco’s face, then returned as anger.

“You had me watched?”

“I had my building watched.”

Dominic pulled his phone from the table and tapped the screen.

He turned it sideways, but the men were too far away to see the details clearly.

I could see enough.

A silent security recording showed my empty desk beneath the dim overnight lights.

At 11:38, Marco appeared from the hallway.

He looked in both directions.

Then he sat in my chair.

My heartbeat slammed against my ribs.

The man who had mocked my hospital bills had entered my office, used my computer, and approved the transfer under my name.

Marco stared at the recording.

“That doesn’t show what I did.”

“It shows you at her workstation,” Dominic said.

“I needed a file.”

“At 11:43?”

“Yes.”

“The exact minute her credentials approved thirty thousand dollars to North Quay Consulting?”

Marco’s jaw tightened.

“Coincidence.”

Dominic paused the recording.

“North Quay Consulting was created three months ago.

Its registered address belongs to a closed restaurant.

Its banking contact uses a number that called you seven times this week.”

A restless murmur moved around the table.

Marco looked from face to face, searching for loyalty.

He found calculation instead.

The men who had once watched me fall were now watching him collapse.

“You’re trusting her over me?” Marco asked.

Dominic leaned back, controlled and silent.

“I’m trusting records over noise.”

Marco pointed at me.

“She planted those records.

She’s been feeding the Costellos information for months.

Why else would she keep copies of access logs?”

“Because I was afraid,” I said.

He turned on me so quickly that Dominic stepped closer.

“Afraid of what?”

“That someone would do exactly what you’re doing now.”
